Compax Solutions AS is a Norwegian start-up technology company which originates from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), and was founded in November 2017. Today the Compax team consists of four employees and founders with different background from NTNUs school of Entrepreneurship and mechanical engineering from NTNU.
THE PROBLEM WE ARE SOLVING
Compax has identified a large problem regarding waste management in the industry of facility management. Today 20-40% of the total disposed volumes of waste from commercial and public buildings are generated by paper towels, and due to inefficient waste handling processes there is a large potential for cost savings.
THE SOLUTION WE DEVELOP
Compax develops a state-of-the-art smart waste compactor (SWC) for paper waste, which will make indoor waste management more efficient, cost-saving and more environmentally friendly. The patent-pending technology of the SWC reduces the volume of paper towel waste up to 10 times, while at the same time collecting valuable information from sensors to be visualized. The SWC will improve both the utilization of volume in the waste bins implying reduced number of plastic bags consumed, and enhance and optimize the working experience for building operators. The choice of technology results in a product with competitive advantages, such as being at least 70% less expensive and 80% lighter than existing solutions.
CURRENT AND FUTURE MILESTONES
By involving more than 60 different stakeholders in our development process, Compax has built great market traction among both customers and strategic partners. We conducted 6 successful pilot tests with some of these customers, and aim to start production of the SWC during the spring of 2020. Compax has acquired funding from several sources, both soft funding and investments. Compax was also one of few startups in Norway which was elected to join the StartupLab Accelerator program. Compax aim to develop a company with international potential, and in order to achieve this we need to bring the best people together.
